FAQs

Delta is a registered investment adviser with a “safety first” philosophy.  We are a high service firm that makes our portfolio allocations based on a careful assessment of market risk.  We are active managers.  By continually evaluating market risk and actively managing portfolios, we have been able to optimize both profits and safety.

Why Delta Tactical?

Over the past 112 years, the U.S. stock market has advanced in multi-year super cycles of bullish and bearish periods.  On average, these periods last for 17 years.  In bearish periods, tactical investing has outperformed buy-and-hold strategies by a wide margin, even in taxable accounts.  In all market conditions, we believe investors should allocate a significant portion of their liquid assets in a tactical strategy.  A tactical approach is necessary to building wealth and avoiding the next major down market.  We offer exceptional tactical strategies: Delta Tactical Good Harbor, Delta Tactical Capital Appreciation, Delta Tactical Treasury Bond and Delta Tactical Sanctuary.

How do I get started?

Call us today at (415) 249-6337 or email us at info@deltaim.com  and we can send you the new account opening documents.

What kind of transparency and security is there?

Delta is a registered investment adviser.  To provide you with a higher level of transparency and security, we use third party custodians. Investments reside at an independent custodial institution. Clients maintain free and clear ownership of portfolio assets at all times.  A third party custodian allows you visibility into your account 24/7 and a source of independent accounting and reporting of your assets.  Your brokerage choices are Charles Schwab, TD Ameritrade, Interactive Brokers and Foliofn.

Do I get monthly statements from Delta Investment Management?

Because your assets are held at an independent brokerage firm (Schwab, TD Ameritrade, Interactive Brokers or Foliofn), your brokerage firm would send you monthly statements and trade confirmations.  Furthermore, these brokerage firms have online account access, so you are able to review your account any time you wish.  We are always available to jointly review your account with you by phone.

How fast will you invest my assets after I open my account?

Depending on which investment strategy you select, we will deploy your capital as soon as we believe it is prudent to do so after consulting with you.  We are very disciplined in our approach.

Do you work on margin?

Delta Investment Management’s tactical programs are held in cash (non margin) accounts.  In custom accounts and with the approval of the client, an account can use margin.

How do I decide which Delta Investment Management program to use?

We recommend that you contact us for a personal consultation to determine what is suitable. We will provide a portfolio evaluation and a recommendation on how to allocate your assets.  Please contact us at (415) 249-6337 or send an email to info@deltaim.com.

May I trade some of my own ideas in the same account?

We cannot share an account with you.  It is too difficult to separate our performance from your performance.  You will have to trade your own ideas in a separate account.  However, you may make special requests to hold or sell particular stocks for tax purposes.  To do so, please call us at (415) 249-6337 or send an email to info@deltaim.com.

Does Delta Investment Management have the ability to withdraw assets from my account?

Delta Investment Management cannot withdraw any of your assets, except for management fees with your written permission.  If you prefer to pay your management fees outside your account, we’ll arrange that for you.

Are Delta’s tactical strategies tax efficient?

No. The tactical strategies are focused on safety of principal and absolute return.  We would rather pay some taxes than suffer a potential major loss of principal.

Do you manage IRA accounts?

Yes, Delta Investment Management manages IRA accounts.  The majority of the gains in our tactical strategies are short-term, thus IRA accounts are particularly well suited for our programs as they are tax-deferred.

How will I receive my year end tax information?

You will receive a 1099 tax reporting form from your custodian.

Will I have Internet access to my account?

Yes.  Internet access will be provided by your custodian.

What are the fees?

Fees depend on the strategy, custodian and size of the account.  Tactical management fees range from 2.2% to 1.5% based on account size, custodian and strategy. For passively held assets, fees can be as low as 0.50%.
